The Difference Between Different Materials Of Artificial Christmas Tree

Dec 09,2022 / News

While artificial Christmas trees may look similar from a distance, a closer look reveals that they vary widely in materials, fabrication, and durability. Artificial Christmas trees come in two types: standard PVC and ultra-realistic PE.

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)

When artificial Christmas trees were first introduced, the needles were made of PVC. The material is hard pressed into sheets and then cut into long, thin rectangular needle-like strips. Then twist the wire between the two wires to outline the branch.
PVC pins are usually flat and look impractical, but they are a popular alternative to natural Christmas trees because they are less expensive.

Polyethylene (PE)

PE was introduced a few years later and is now considered the only material that can replicate the look of a real tree. Beautifully patterned and PE infused using actual branches from a variety of conifers resulting in realistic-looking trees.

Unlike PVC Christmas trees, the PE tree's molded polymer needles have the thickness and mass of real tree branches. Also, the needles are three-dimensional rather than planar. However, some artificial Christmas trees combine PE and PVC to make them look thicker and fuller.

An artificial Christmas tree is an investment that will last for many years, so it is important to buy a quality tree. In this way, you will be able to enjoy a cost-effective and value-for-money product with a first-class appearance over the years. Happy decorating!
