The Difference Between Pvc And Pe Christmas Trees

Jul 29,2022 / News

While artificial Christmas trees may look similar from a distance, a closer look reveals substantial differences in materials, fabrication, and durability. There are two types of artificial Christmas trees: standard PVC and ultra-realistic PE.

Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)

When artificial Christmas trees were first introduced, the needles were made of PVC. The material is hard pressed into thin sheets and then cut into elongated rectangular needle-like strips. Then twist the wire between the two wires to outline the branch.

PVC pins are usually flat and don't look practical, but they are a popular alternative to natural Christmas trees due to their cheap price.

Polyethylene (PE)

PE was introduced a few years later and is now considered the only material that replicates the look of real trees. Beautifully patterned and PE infused using actual branches from a variety of conifers, resulting in realistic trees.

Unlike PVC Christmas trees, the molded polymer needles of PE trees have the thickness and quality of real branches. Also, the needle is three-dimensional rather than planar. However, some artificial Christmas trees combine PE and PVC to make them appear thicker and fuller.

Artificial Christmas trees are investments that can last for years, so it's important to buy a good quality tree. This way, you're sure to enjoy a cost-effective and value-for-money product that looks top-notch over the years. Happy decorating!
